Great Salt Plains by Casey Callahan
Great Salt Plains State Park is an Oklahoma State Park located just east of Cherokee, Oklahoma. With Great Salt Lake right next to it, recreational opportunities include boating, camping, picnicking, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, and exploring.
It was named because it is covered with a layer of salt deposited a long time ago by an inland sea. A saline aquifer still flows beneath the surface and replenishes the salt whenever the water table rises - allowing visitors to now dig up Selenite Crystals.
